SUNY Korea seeks lecturers in the areas of mathematics starting Fall of 2013

SUNY Korea is a global campus of Stony Brook University (SBU) and the State University of New York, offering degree programs of SBU’s College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS).

SUNY Korea is part of the Songdo Global University Campus which will be shared with a number of leading universities worldwide as well as additional SBU departments. Songdo is a new city in close proximity to the Incheon international airport. Korean and foreign high-tech firms have already located in Songdo, and our industry relationships are excellent.

SUNY Korea offers calculus courses as a part of the Department of Technology and Society BS program. We promise students an American university experience in Korea with instruction in English. Students are international.

Job Description
Lecturers will teach the following calculus courses at SUNY Korea.

AMS 151-C Applied Calculus I
A review of functions and their applications; analytic methods of differentiation; interpretations and applications of differentiation; introduction to integration. Intended for CEAS majors. Not for credit in addition to MAT 125 or 126 or 131 or 141. This course has been designated as a High Demand/Controlled Access (HD/CA) course. Students registering for HD/CA courses for the first time will have priority to do so.
Prerequisite: B or higher in MAT 123, or level 5 on the mathematics placement examination, or B or higher in MAT 122 and concurrent in MAT 130.

AMS 161-C Applied Calculus II
Analytic and numerical methods of integration; interpretations and applications of integration; differential equations models and elementary solution techniques; phase planes; Taylor series and Fourier series. Intended for CEAS majors. Not for credit in addition to MAT 126 or 127 or 132 or 142. This course has been designated as a High Demand/Controlled Access (HD/CA) course. Students registering for HD/CA courses for the first time will have priority to do so.
Prerequisite: C or higher in AMS 151 or MAT 131 or 141, or level 7 on the mathematics placement examination.

Qualifications
● Experience in American education (having taught in or received at least three or four years of his/her education in American higher education). Excellent English is a must.
● Masters or higher degree in math or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
● Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate students.
● Skilled at cross-cultural communication and enthusiastic about new experiences.
