II.  Qualifications
A.    All applicants must be able to lecture in English.(except for those applying for Korean Education and Ethics Education)
B.    No applicant shall have reason to be disqualified as a government employee under the provisions of The Public Employee Act, Clause 4 of Article 10.
C.    Applicants should have 4 years or more teaching and research experience based on the ‘Regulations on the GNU Professor’s Qualification Examination’. (including Master’s and Ph.D. course period)
* Actual course period will be only recognized, up to two years for Master’s and three years for Ph.D.
D.    Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field (the degree must be in hand by the date of application):
■ Applicants for the Department of Emergency Medicine (Graduate School of Medicine) can apply with an MD degree or a Master’s degree.
■ Applicants applying for a position of the Office of Academy & Industry Collaboration can apply with a Bachelor’s degree.
* “Doctoral (Master’s) Degree Holder” means that an applicant must have a degree in hand by the application deadline, i.e., any ABD applicants who have defended their dissertations but not received their degrees are not eligible for hiring.
E.    Applicants for the Department of Emergency Medicine (Graduate School of Medicine) must have a medical professional license within the related field of specialization.
F.    Applicants who majored in ‘Poetics’ may apply for the Department of Korean Education.
G.    Applicants who majored in immunology may apply for the Department of Veterinary Medicine.
H.    Applicants who specialized in convergence network will be preferred for the Department of Information and Communication Engineering
I.    Applicants who are able to lecture analytical pharmacy and have a pharmacist license will be preferred for the Department of Pharmacy.
J.    Applicants applying for a position of the Office of Academy & Industry Collaboration must have no less than ten (10) years of working experience in related industry.
K.    Requirements of research results
1)    Application for Humanities and Social Sciences must have publications adding up to 200 percent for the past 3 years (November 28, 2010~Novermber 27, 2013) in SCI, SCIE, A&HCI, SSCI, SCOPUS, or the National Research Foundation of Korea nominated to be published.
2)    Applicants for Natural Sciences, Engineering and Medicine must have publications adding up to 200 percent for the past 3years (November 28, 2010~Novermber 27, 2013) in SCI.
3)    The following are exceptions:
■ Applicants for the Emergency Medicine must have more than one publication in SCI (including SCIE) as a main author (first author, corresponding author), and have publications adding up to 200 percent in SCI, SCIE, SCOPUS, or the National Research Foundation of Korea nominated to be published for the past three years (November 28, 2010~Novermber 27, 2013).
- 100% (out of 200%) of Case Report will be admitted.
■ Applicants for the Department of Regional Environment Foundation Engineering must have publications adding up to 200 percent in SCI or SCIE.
4)    Research accomplishments for Screening(excluding research nominated to be published)
■ Research accomplishments in an applied subject area must be written in a form and content of publications.
■ Proof of publication (authors, title, source, publisher, and ISSN) must be written on the List of Research publication (GNU application format) and attached on copies or original publication.
    * One of the following documents can be used as an alternative to the above:
          - Proof from a publisher’s website (must be printed in color);
          - Notarized copies from national or public libraries.
■ Dates for publication, presentation or registration of all research publications to be screened must be within the last three years (November 28, 2010~Novermber 27, 2013).
■ A publication released on a website must be accompanied by a hard copy and must state its volume number, page count, and publication date. (If there is difference between the publication date of the hard copy and the date of web publication, the applicant can choose the date between them).
■ Any publication released on a website without a hard copy must state its volume number, page count, and publication date. [A printout of the relevant page from http://ip-science.thomsonreuters.co.kr for SCI publications and www.nrf.re.kr for publications in the National Research Foundation of Korea (including research nominated to be published) must be submitted].
■ If the research was published as a book, the entire book shall be submitted.

VII.  Further Remarks

A.    Applicants who have at least ten years of work experience in a related industry can gain benefit by being designated as an academic-industrial collaboration professor after being employed.
B.    Applicants should apply in person or through a representative (Submission by mail is acceptable).
Submissions by mail must be received by the Office of Academic Affairs before November 27, 2013 (Wed.), 17:00 local time in the Republic of Korea.
C.    Two sets of documents submitted must contain the applicant’s signature, and one of submitted documents will be returned to the applicants after screening procedures.
D.    Work certificates in Korea (all experience stated on the list of teaching and research experience).
■ All certificates submitted must be original (if this is not possible, a copy is acceptable but the original must be submitted later).
■ Work certificates for experience as a part-time lecturer, or as an invited or adjunct professor, and other part-time teaching experience must specifically state weekly class hours and work period.
■ If selected candidates have work experience other than that stated above, they must submit relevant documents proving that it was a full-time paid occupation of eight hours or more per day, regular position, responsibility, etc.
E.    Certification written in foreign languages (i.e. degree, work certificates):
1)    Documents in foreign languages must be submitted with Korean translations signed by the applicant (with the exception of academic transcripts).
2)    Applicants with a Ph.D. degree from a foreign country must submit a Doctoral Approval Page issued by the NRF (National Research Foundation of Korea). 
3)    An Apostille is required for work certificates from abroad if the relevant country recognizes Apostilles. If the relevant country does not recognize Apostilles, notarization by a relevant embassy is required for further evidence of legality.
* If not available at the application, certificates (including translation) without an Apostille or notarization are acceptable but they must be submitted later.
4)    If an original certificate cannot be submitted, the copy should be compared to the original certificate at the time of submission and signed by the applicant.
5)    Research or teaching assistant certificates from foreign universities– see 3) above.
■ Work certificates must be issued by the president of the relevant university (specifying position held, period of employment, salary, etc.).
■ If work certificates issued by the president are not available, work certificates by authorized representatives can be submitted as an alternative (specifying position held, job description, period of employment, salary, etc.).
F.    Both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be informed via phone or e-mail at each stage of the selection process.
G.    Employment contracts must be approved by the university faculty personnel committee, after reviewing the candidates’ selected publications and background checks (assistant professor – 4 years; associate professor – 6 years; professor – 3 years). Annual salary and pay increases will be decided by “Performance-based Payment Regulation”.
●The expected employment date will be March 1, 2014, but the date is subject to change according to individual departments.

I.    All information in the application must be correctly stated – any disadvantages from missing documents, false or misinformation will be applicant’s responsibility; any application with more than two subjects will be all invalid.
J.    Approval regarding double major and minor will be decided by the Specialization Judging Committee.
K.    Only one candidate will be successfully recruited in each subject area, and ten candidates will be finally admitted in the twelve subject areas. Positions may not be filled if there are no qualified candidates.
L.    If an unqualified applicant has been accepted or hired based on false information given in the application form or falsification of supporting documents, the acceptance or hiring will be revoked.

 ※ According to The Rules for Public Education Personnel and Staff Act, Article 43, Clause 1 and 2 and The Regulation on Hiring New Faculty at Gyeongsang National University, Article 3, C and D, if more than two-thirds of the applicants have graduated from one specific university, applicants from that specific university will not be accepted.
